ChatGPT's Year in Review: Your AI Usage Unwrapped
OpenAI is introducing a new annual personalized review for its users, mirroring the popular "Wrapped" feature found on platforms like Spotify. Dubbed "Your Year with ChatGPT," this feature will provide eligible consumers with a retrospective look at their interactions with the AI.
Initially, this service will be accessible in key English-speaking regions, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
To qualify for "Your Year with ChatGPT," individuals must be using the free, Plus, or Pro versions of ChatGPT and have both the "reference saved memories" and "reference chat history" settings enabled. Additionally, a minimum level of conversation engagement is required, as confirmed by OpenAI. Notably, business-oriented accounts like Team, Enterprise, and Education will not have access to this feature. OpenAI emphasizes that the experience is designed to be unobtrusive, mindful of user privacy, and firmly under user control.
Drawing clear inspiration from Spotify's year-end summaries, "Your Year with ChatGPT" employs engaging visuals and tailors the experience to each user. It will bestow personalized "awards" based on individual usage patterns throughout the year. For example, a user who frequently leveraged ChatGPT for problem-solving or conceptual development might receive the "Creative Debugger" award.
The review will also feature a unique poem and an AI-generated image reflecting the user's primary areas of interest during their ChatGPT interactions. (The article speculates on potential future developments, such as how this feature might evolve with the rumored embrace of adult content by ChatGPT in 2026.)
While "Your Year with ChatGPT" will be highlighted on the app's home screen, its activation will be entirely voluntary; users will not be prompted or have it open automatically.
This feature will be available across both the ChatGPT web interface and its mobile applications for iOS and Android devices. Alternatively, users can initiate the "Your Year with ChatGPT" experience by simply asking for it directly within the chatbot.
